Below we list the main cooking utensils you will need if you are going to cook Paella or gourmet rice.
The first protagonist, of course, will be the Paellera. If you still don’t have and need to buy one, check out our guide of Paella pans.
The Utensils to make Paella that you must have
These are the main utensils you will need for any type of rice and even many more recipes:
Basic set of Pots and Pans
To make the broths and fumets we will need saucepans for cooking. We will also need pans to cook the stir-fries, Salmorreta Alicantina, sauces, sear or fry foods, etc.
A basic set of pots and pans, in addition to the Paellera, will be essential.
Kitchen Utensil Set
For all the cooking you will need ladles, a slotted spoon, tongs, spatula, or silicone brush. There are a wide variety of models on the market made of wood, fibers, or the latest trend, silicone.
Kitchen Knife Set
Another important element is the knives that should be of various sizes to use according to the food we process.
Knife for cutting vegetables, knife for cutting meat, such as chicken for mixed Paella, knife for cutting seafood, such as rice with lobster, etc.
Cutting Board
Essential kitchen item to cut the vegetables, meats, and seafood that our Paella will carry. They are available in wood and fiber.
Kitchen Mortar
Another element that cannot be missing in your kitchen to prepare a good Paella is the mortar, where we will mince garlic, parsley, ñoras, etc.
It is also used to make the typical “mojo” sauce (garlic + parsley + olive oil + drizzle of lemon). They are available in wood, granite, or metallic.
Those made of metal and stone are more comfortable when grinding.
Kitchen Strainer
The strainer is also important for once the broth finishes cooking, we will filter all the fish whitebait that we have used.

Kitchen Peeler
A kitchen peeler is a very useful tool for peeling countless vegetables, making the most of all the pulp. When we peel with knives we always extract or remove more fruit than the skin itself. They are also used to peel fruits.
Blender
Although the mixer is not essential, it can be used in many preparations depending on the type of Paella. We will use it to make sauces, “Alioli” or to beat and grind food.
Box Grater
The kitchen grater is another very useful kitchen tool that should not be missing in your kitchen. To cook Paellas it will help us to prepare the crushed tomato for the sofritos.
